Community Spirit Glows at Hilltop Park: Bordentown’s Jack-o’-Lantern Stroll 🎃

45 community-donated pumpkins light up a beloved Halloween tradition in Bordentown City.

Halloween is about more than costumes, candy, and spooky decorations. It's about the traditions that bring neighbors together, and in Bordentown City, one of those traditions is glowing brighter each year.

The Bordentown Creative Team welcomed residents to Hilltop Park for its Third Annual Jack-o’-Lantern Stroll, where 45 creatively carved pumpkins transformed the park into a festive Halloween display.

A Halloween Celebration Created by the Community

Rick Ellis, chairperson of the Bordentown Creative Team, shared how the event comes together through the generosity and creativity of local residents.

“This wouldn't happen without the people in town, because they're the ones that have to bring out the jack-o'-lanterns,” Ellis explained.

Every pumpkin on display was donated by someone in the community. Residents began dropping off their creations that morning, and pumpkins were still arriving as the evening festivities got underway.

Ellis also recognized the volunteer musicians who donated their time and the support of Bordentown City's mayor in helping make the celebration possible.

Every Pumpkin Has a Personality

Part of the magic of the Jack-o’-Lantern Stroll is seeing the creativity of the community reflected in each pumpkin.

From imaginative designs to playful carved faces, every jack-o’-lantern brings something different to the display.

During our visit, young attendees Carla and Cameron shared their favorite pumpkins. Carla was particularly drawn to one pumpkin's nose because she thought it looked like a cat!

It's those little moments of wonder and excitement that make community traditions like this so special.

Keeping the Spirit of Local Alive

The Jack-o’-Lantern Stroll is a wonderful reminder that some of the best community experiences happen when neighbors contribute a little creativity, volunteer their time, and come together to celebrate.

Thanks to Rick Ellis, the Bordentown Creative Team, local musicians, participating residents, and everyone who helped bring the event to life, Hilltop Park became a glowing example of community spirit.

Because sometimes, it takes a community to light up Halloween! 🎃
